Kids, sock the Axis with this wastepaper punch!

I think I've mentioned this before but whenever I come across one of these ads I'm struck by how strange that sense of common purpose and shared sacrifice seems today.

But no Adam Strange

St. John was a small but extremely influential comic publisher of the late Fifties. No doubt much of the credit goes to managing co-editor Joe Kubert. Not only did Kubert produce a tremendous number of stories for St. John (covering everything from cavemen to romance), he also did a great job hiring and managing gifted artists like Everett Kinstler, Matt Baker and Murphy Anderson. Fans of DC's Silver Age (particularly Mystery in Space) should enjoy "The Cycle of Time" from St. John's Nightmare #10.

If you're happy and you know it, click an ad

Just a reminder, the easiest way to support a website or blog is to click on an ad. Each click puts a quarter or so in the blogger's coffers -- not big money but enough to supply a bit of encouragement.

Of course, comments are an even more direct way of providing so encouragement, so if you're surfing small sites and you see something you like, leave a comment (don't be shy about being the first) and if you don't have time for a comment, click an ad.

We just like knowing that you're out there.
