But no Adam Strange
St. John was a small but extremely influential comic publisher of the late Fifties. No doubt much of the credit goes to managing co-editor Joe Kubert. Not only did Kubert produce a tremendous number of stories for St. John (covering everything from cavemen to romance), he also did a great job hiring and managing gifted artists like Everett Kinstler, Matt Baker and Murphy Anderson. Fans of DC's Silver Age (particularly Mystery in Space) should enjoy "The Cycle of Time" from St. John's Nightmare #10.

More Kubert -- "Love Came Second"
When Simon and Kirby launched Young Romance in 1947, they started a genre that rivalled the Golden Age of superheroes in popularity. It doesn't get much attention now but its impact was huge and it remained a major genre for almost thirty years.
If you've never read a romance comic, you could do worse than this example from St. John's Hollywood Confessions. The story is typical of the genre and the art is typical Kubert, which is to say, very good indeed.
